Creative Resilience

CREATIVE
RESILIENCE

Imagine taking a journey with art and culture about economic justice. Imagine doing so among thousands of people in downtown Los Angeles in a warehouse tricked out to art gallery standards. And then in that space, there’s daily performances, discussions, and workshops.

Creative Resilience is an artful community experience capturing and amplifying these moments. Here, you’ll see works of art reflecting the history of economic marginalization and white supremacy, the struggles to overcome those systemic obstacles, the power of mutual aid and collective action, and the hopes and dreams of a vibrant future for us all.

Creative Resilience is what happens when we are making beauty out of hardship. It is irrepressible. And fly. It is that thing that allows us to make a way out of no way.

This page serves as a jumping off point into many facets of what was the Creative Resilience experience. Take your time and rummage around. There’s a reproduction of the original website for the event at the time. There’s blog posts about different aspects of production. There are clips from a 3-part PBS series about the events. So much to dig into. Take your time.
