A New Georgia on Our Minds

On the heels of the November Presidential Election, we were tasked by the New Georgia Project Action Fund to help with their GOTV efforts for the Jan 5 Senate Runoff. With a five week timeline, that included the end of year holiday season, our small but mighty team worked tirelessly to produce over 100 pieces of original digital content.

We developed an online hub where all digital PSAs and gifs could be found, thus providing our client seamless access to a gallery of social media ready downloadable images. For hand to hand organizing, we created a few flyers as well, which people could print and hand out, or place in their windows. This was built on a successful model we initiated during the 2020 General Election that created a hub for 30+ community-based organizations to utilize.

To bring even more flavor to the Senate run-off election, we hooked up with long time collaborators Las Cafeteras who were working on a special version of the Ray Charles classic “Georgia On My Mind.” Blending cultures and genres, the song was a joyous way to unite people and get voters dancing all the way to the polls. More importantly, the song speaks to the changing demographics in Georgia. Over the last 10 years, the South has been home to the fastest growing Latinx population in the country.

We also curated a special Spotify playlist to keep voters energized on their way to (and in line at) the polls. Georgia actually saw a 65% increase in early votes cast by Latinos in the state.

We at Big Bowl Of Ideas would like to congratulate everyone involved in the Georgia Senate Runoff Election, from the organizers to the voters themselves, who made history on January 5th. Let’s keep up the fight in 2021!
